LINCOMIX® NFS

LINCOMIX® NFS

New Synergistic Combination of Lincomycin and Neomycin Trisulphate.

Treatment of Necrotic Enteritis, Coccidiosis Staphylococcus and Mycoplasma infections in Chicken.

Lincomycin

Lincosamide lincomycin is a miscellaneous group of protein-inhibiting antimicrobials with activities similar to members of the macrolide group of antibiotics, which includes erythromycin, tylosin, and spiramycin.

Antimicrobial Spectrum

Lincomycin is indicated in the treatment of (all lincomycin susceptible organisms), for growth promotion and feed efficiency in chickens, (e.g. susceptible Staphylococcus spp., Streptococcus spp., Erysipelothrix rhusiopathiae and mycoplasma spp.) and control of necrotic enteritis in chickens (e.g. Clostridium perfringens)

Mode of action

Lincomycin acts by binding with the 50S subunit of the bacterial ribosome where it prevents the binding of aminoacyl RNA to the messenger ribosome complex by inhibition of peptidyl transferase. Ultimately bacterial protein synthesis is inhibited.

Pharmacokinetics of Lincomycin

Absorption and distribution of lincomycin is rapid by oral administration. In Chicken absorption is 20% - 50%. Following absorption lincomycin is widely distributed into most tissues, including respiratory tissues, bones, and joints. It crosses the placenta and is secreted in milk. Lincomycin enters the cerebrospinal fluid only when the meninges are inflamed. They have shown tremendous potential as antibacterials.

Lincomycin MIC, (rg/ml) values are the following:

  • Staphylococcus spp. 0.25 to 16 μg/mL
  • Streptococcus spp. 0.25 to 8 μg/mL.
  • Mycoplasma spp.,: MIC(90) ( μg/ml) = 0.25
  • Clostridium perfringens spp., MIC(90) ( μg/ml) =0.18

About Neomycin

  • Neomycin belongs to the aminoglycoside class of antibiotics that contain two or more aminosugars connected by glycosidic bonds. Neamine (two rings), ribostamycin (three rings), paromomycin (four rings), and lividomycin (five rings) are some other examples of aminoglycosides. They have shown tremendous potential as antibacterials.
  • Neomycin is an aminoglycoside with a broad spectrum of activity against both gram-positive and gram-negative organisms. Like other aminoglycosides, neomycin is thought to act by binding to bacterial ribosomes and inhibiting protein synthesis.
  • Neomycin has activity against many aerobic gram-negative and gram-positive bacteria, including the major E. coli species resident in the colon as well as the enteropathogenic forms of E. coli.
  • Neomycin Sulphate consists of a mixture of Neomycin A, B, and C, which differ in the side chains attached to the amino sugars. Neomycin A is a degradation product of Neomycin B and C and has no antimicrobial activity.
  • Neomycin Trisulphate is an aminoglycoside antibiotic. It consists of 85% Neomycin B and 15 % Neomycin C. Neomycin Trisulphate, has better activity than Neomycin Sulphate and streptomycin against aerobic gram-negative bacilli.
